What To Expect At Ignite Advanced

IGNITE! will be an unforgettable weekend designed specifically to help creators like you select and develop a marketable project, practice and hone your pitching skills, meet fellow creators, and network with top Hollywood producers in Los Angeles.

We designed the Advanced Track for you to take the groundwork you’ve already laid with readying your project for the market and take it to the next level...

The track is for authors and screenwriters alike, PLUS everyone will have VIP status, which means that you will work 1-on-1 with a producer-mentor on your project throughout the weekend.

Here’s what you can expect to cover over the course of the weekend in The Advanced Track:

The Polish

In this 11-point stress test, you’ll challenge the finer points of your storytelling and make sure your project is market ready.

During this session you will: optimize your central idea, work on character improvement, sharpen your structure and story beats, and improve your tent-pole moments.

Building Your Hollywood Career

Your mentors will share their tips for establishing a foothold in Hollywood and charting a career that’s productive and lasting.

This session will focus on building your personal brand and growing a long-lasting career.  You will cover: how to target, approach and land a manager, how to devise a game plan for your short and long-term goals, and how to manage the financial ups and downs on a career in the industry.

The Go-to-Market Plan

In this session, you’ll construct and perfect a go-to-market plan for your project and discuss the ins and outs of the sale.

You will work on: assembling your target producer & buyer list, devising a strategy to reach those targets and pique their interest, and understanding the project consideration process from outreach to sale.

You we also cover art of the deal and how to make deals that close.

Perfecting the Pitch

Learn the tricks to make your pitches pop.  Sharpen your short and long pitches and explore the range of supplemental materials you can use to amp up the pitch experience.

During the session you will: create an elevator pitch that packs a punch, develop an engaging long pitch, and explore your pitch option materials.

Last but not least, IGNITE! is about building lifelong relationships with peers and professionals – these are the kinds of relationships that will be so meaningful to your career as you move ahead with your projects.

Meet Your Mentors and Producers

John Crye

crye_squareJohn Crye spent 10+ years as the Director of Creative affairs at Newmarket Films.  While at Newmarket, he acquired MEMENTO, DONNIE DARKO, and WHALE RIDER. He also helped  develop PASSION OF THE CHRIST and CRUEL INTENTIONS.

Crye currently works as an Independent writer/director/producer whose website Fewdio served as home to original web series NIGHTMARE HOUSE, for which Crye wrote, directed, and produced 30 episodes that garnered over 3 million viewers across multiple online outlets.

Sam Alexander

Sam specializes in reality television development, as well as dramatic scripted series development. He spent nine years with The Mark Wolper Organization at Warner Bros., most recently as Director of Development. While at Wolper, he sourced, cast and developed shows for such networks as truTV, The Discovery Networks, History Channel, Bravo, WE, Spike, and Esquire. Currently the Head of Development for Brantlinger Entertainment, Sam is responsible for the entire scope of Reality TV development from casting, the production of sizzle reels and pitching.

Travis Fickett

Travis's journey to Hollywood success was long and winding – leaving him with a variety of experience in both how to and how not to do things. He has worked as a film executive, story consultant, professional writer, entertainment journalist, and television critic. After selling his first project (a romantic comedy film) to Warner Bros, he spent two years on TERRA NOVA for Fox, and NIKITA for the CW. At which point he went on to create and run 12 MONKEYS.

Dion Foley

Over the course of his career, Dion has worked on over 35 films in production. He is actively involved in all aspects of production, from development all the way to delivery. Dion has several films and television series’ in development. In January 2016 he launched his own production venture Push Play Productions, which just wrapped FIVE PIECE, a psychological drama about a drummer with multiple personalities. Additionally Dion has released the following theatrical productions: FINAL GIRL, WHAT GOES UP, SUDDENLY and DAWN RIDER.

Q: How do I get to Hollywood from the airport?

A:  Uber is your most direct bet - but you can also take the FlyAway Shuttle to Westwood and bus it from there if you want to make the trip more affordable.

A: If you’re coming from the West (LAX etc) the easiest way to get to Hollywood is to take the 405 North to the 10 East and exit La Break until you hit Hollywood Blvd and La Brea.
