FROM: Nat Mundel

...Do you get a little jealous when you read about how other authors have hit it big in Hollywood, and you think, “Why them and not me?”

...How many times have you been writing something and said to yourself, “This would make a great character in a movie.” You can even visualize the entire movie in your head, practically scene-by-scene

…Have you watched a TV show and thought, “How on earth did this even get produced? I can do better than that!”

Here’s your opportunity to prove it!

I’m going to show you how to get your work (whether it’s a self-published book, a manuscript of a future book you have an idea for, or even a collection of blog posts you’ve written over the years) on the desk of an A-list Hollywood producer to get evaluated.

If you’ve always dreamed about...

...Seeing the characters in your book come to life on the big screen

...Having your personal story turned into a movie that can inspire others

...Turning your experience and expertise into a weekly television series

...Seeing your name up in lights or walking down the red carpet for the Oscars... just for the pure sake of ego gratification and to brag to your family and friends

Here’s the fastest way possible to get your work to a producer most suited to bring it to the screen on your behalf.

6 Reasons Every Current and Aspiring
Author Should Try To Sell their Work's Movie
Rights to Hollywood

I’ve personally talked with thousands of writers. And I know that many have the dream of turning their books into movies.

However, even if you haven’t thought about turning your book or story into a movie or TV show, there are some really good strategic reasons you should:

  1. It’s a HUGE opportunity for you to sell your content and story to yet another market and get paid handsomely for it (Amanda Hocking self-published her books on Amazon.com and sold most of them as e-books. She was far from your typical best-selling author. But Hollywood loved her Trylle Trilogy stories so much they bought the rights to all three for over ONE MILLION DOLLARS!).
  2. It can increase sales of your book and all your future books. Millions of movie and TV fans buy books after watching the movie or TV show. (Rex Pickett, author of the novel Sideways, said, “Looking back, I wish I hadn’t taken the measly $5,000 advance from the publisher. Had I waited until the film was released, I’m told the book would have sold for $1,000,000.”
  3. Turning your book into a movie or TV show can make it easier to get your next book deal, from a bigger publisher and with an even bigger advance (I’ll use Amanda Hocking as an example again. After Hollywood paid a million dollars for her self-published Trylle Trilogy, Publishing giant St. Martin’s Press paid her a $2 million dollar advance for her new Waterson book series!
  4. There’s a fast growing industry within Hollywood that specializes in turning self-published books (from “How To” to Motivational to highly personal Autobiographical stories) into movies, TV series and reality shows. This is ideal for authors who write about very niched topics.
  5. Hollywood is actively looking for adaptations right now. According to Christopher Lockhart, story editor at Hollywood superagency WME, “Adaptations are super-hot right now.” And Ryan Condal, who recently sold his first script Galahad for $500,000 says. “Probably 99% of the active projects in Hollywood are adaptations of one kind or another.”
  6. Hollywood is FUN and EXCITINGYou get to go on the movie set. Meet the leading actors of your movie. “Lunch” with the director in famous LA restaurants. As Mike Mignola, author of Hellboy who has seen his comic books turned into two movies, “The [Director] wanted me there... And I was treated great because everybody knew I was Del Toro’s pal.”

And there’s another reason why you should seriously look toward Hollywood for your next big payday...

Hollywood Has MORE Money To Offer Authors
than the Publishing World Does!

A report released in 2010 by the Association of American Publishers shows an overall decline in actual book sales compared with the previous year. And an Associated Press-Ipsos poll found only one in four American adults claimed to have read a book during the previous year.

…On the other hand, Hollywood’s worldwide box office receipts grew by ten percent in 2009, to $29.9 billion. In 2010, they grew another eight percent, to $31.8 billion. In 2011, they reached $32.6 billion—for an overall gain of 35% over the past five years.

Movies and TV shows routinely reach millions, sometimes hundreds of millions of people all over the world. For book sales to reach this level, they often do only after a movie of the book has been made.

…And finally (and this number is both mind-numbing and frightening at the same time) It’s estimated the movie Avatar will eventually bring in between $12 billion and $15 billion between movie and DVD sales. That’s NEARLY DOUBLE THE TOTAL OF ALL TRADE (non-textbook) BOOK SALES FROM U.S. PUBLISHERS for the entire preceding year!

Even though print is far from dead, we’re living in an increasingly digital culture.

And that’s why it’s important for you to pitch your book, future book or story to Hollywood today.

And right now one of the hottest trends in Hollywood is to create movies adapted from books, manuscripts and stories.

Hollywood is Desperately Hungry for
New and Fresh Content!

Hollywood and television have gone through amazing changes in the past 40 years.

When I was growing up we only had three national broadcast TV channels, ABC, CBS, and NBC.

And we had a few local stations. Plus PBS and some Spanish language stations as well.

And that was it!

Heck, I remember TV actually turned off at about 1:00 am.

They’d play the Star Spangled Banner and that was it until the news or cartoons came on at 5:00 am.

And when I went to a movie theater (not a cinema), it was a building with one movie screen in it that played one or two movies at most.

Back then (and boy do I feel old saying that) Hollywood didn’t need tens of thousands of script ideas for movies and TV shows.

But times have changed.

Today movie and TV entertainment is a 24-hour, 7 days a week business.

There are dozens of broadcast channels.

THOUSANDS of cable stations.

Not to mention more movie studios, more independent film studios and filmmakers. And multiplexes that show up to 16 films at once.

And there are also new media outlets that never existed before, like movies and video on demand and online entertainment.

And we also have new niche markets such as in-flight entertainment (for airplanes) and educational programming just for schools.

And they all have one thing in common. All these channels and media outlets need new and fresh content so they can produce more movies... TV shows... and programming.

And books and stories based on books and magazine articles, even collections of blog posts, all make great source material for new films.

Everything from best-selling novels, obscure books, non-fiction texts, short stories, magazine articles, comic books, and even blogs are being gobbled up by Hollywood production studios. Why shouldn’t yours?

And, as you’ll see in a moment, don’t think you have to be a world famous, best selling author to be offered a movie deal.

Hollywood isn’t just buying the screen rights to best sellers. Nothing is further from the truth. Right now, Hollywood producers and movie studios are buying the rights to…

  • “How To” books to turn into television series
  • Personal and intimate biographies for television movies
  • Non fiction books, including motivational and self-improvement books and stories, to turn into reality series
  • Historical books for video on demand
  • Novels for potential Hollywood blockbuster films
  • And many more novel length and short stories they can use on the thousands of cable stations and limited run movie releases

In fact, there’s a new media outlet in Hollywood that is tailor-made for self-published authors. It’s called Theater On Demand...

Theater On Demand is the
Self-Published Author’s
Best Friend In Hollywood

The newest form of movie production and distribution is Theater On Demand(TOD).

And while you may not be familiar with the term Theater On Demand, I bet you’ve seen coming attractions for it in your local theater.

Most likely for operas and special events that are shown only once at your theater.

But if you’re a self-published author, TOD may be your foot in the door into Hollywood.

Because TOD allows self-published authors to turn their books, manuscripts and stories into movies that can be digitally broadcast to theaters. But instead of having to be shown 3 to 5 times a day for 7 weeks (like Hollywood mainstream movies), these movies can be shown just one time at a theater and still make money.

Thanks to this new technology, for the first time ever, Hollywood is able to profitably make movies on niched subjects and topics which many self-published books are about.

Hollywood is progressive. They’re reaching out to self-published authors because they need your content and story ideas.

So why is Hollywood so hot on buying the rights to books and stories from authors? Simple...

Hollywood’s Long History Of
Adapting Books To Screen

Books have long been the inspiration for feature films.

You’re probably familiar with many of the films based on books, including Gone With The Wind, Mutiny on the Bounty, Ben-Hur, West Side Story, The Godfather, Forrest Gump and thousands of others.

But did you know according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) 29,218 movies started out as books?

When I first saw that number I had to do a double take. It’s HUGE!

Heck, I didn’t even know that many movies had been made in total, much less that many made based just on books.

But Hollywood LOVES turning books into movies because it can be incredibly profitable.

As of mid-November, 2012, eight of the top ten, 16 of the top 20, and well over 50 of the top 100 highest-grossing films of all time are adaptations from books, comics, historical events, toys, even amusement park rides!

Here’s a list of the top ten movies which have been adapted to the screen from other sources, and their gross sales to date:

Titanic.......................................................................$2,185,000,000

Marvel’s The Avengers................................................$1,512,000,000

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2..............$1,328,000,000

Transformers: Dark of the Moon.................................$1,124,000,000

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.……..$1,120,000,000

The Dark Knight Rises...............................................$1,081,000,000+

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest................$1,066,000,000

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ...............$1,044,000,000

Alice in Wonderland (2010)........................................$1,024,000,000

The Dark Knight ........................................................$1,005,000,000

And remember, these are just the top ten adaptations. OVER half of the 100 highest grossing movies of all time are adaptations!

And the trend of turning books (as well as magazine articles, comic books and even blog posts) into movies is as strong today as it’s ever been. In fact...

Six of the nineteen films nominated for Academy Awards in 2011 were also adaptations—of novels and nonfiction books/true stories.

And five of the nine films nominated for Best Picture this year were adapted from books..

If you’re a keen-eyed observer, you noticed the books on the above list are fiction books. But I have GREAT news for you if you’re a non fiction author...

Hollywood Also Loves Making Movies
“Based On A True Story”

First a quick note about the list above: even though the movie version of Titanic was fiction, it’s based on non-fiction.

You see, Hollywood will often use a non-fiction book to create a fiction movie. So the top-grossing movie ever adapted was adapted from non-fiction material!

Hollywood loves non-fiction books as much as fiction books for adapting to the screen.

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “You just couldn’t make this stuff up!” Well, in many cases in Hollywood, it’s true. And it’s why Hollywood continues to buy the movie rights to non fiction books and stories. The writers in Hollywood just can’t make this stuff up!

So if you’re a non fiction author, rest assured, your dream of having your very personal story you labored over and lived, can actually become a movie or TV series that will help you spread your message. Especially with the popularity of cable channels that specialize on specific topics, Video on Demand, and Theater On Demand, which is gaining momentum every single day.

Non fiction books that have been adapted to the big screen include...

The French Connection: A True Account of Cops, Narcotics, and International Conspiracy (1969)

Awakenings

The Basketball Diaries

Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team and a Dream

Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War

Bravo Two Zero

Charlie Wilson’s War

Dispatches  (Movie title: Apocalypse Now)

Full Metal Jacket

Escape from Alcatraz

The Gangs of New York: An Informal History of the Underworld

Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13 (Movie Title: Apollo 13)

The Perfect Storm

The Blind Side

You see, even though every film above is a fiction movie, they all started from non fiction books.

Do you think the non fiction authors were troubled when their non fiction works were turned into fiction movies? I’m sure any issues they had were resolved as they cashed their checks from selling the rights to the book and residual checks they received in the mail.

So now you know why you so often see “Based on a true story” or “Based on actual events” when you watch a movie.

But let’s say you don’t have a book published yet. Maybe you don’t even have a manuscript done. That’s not a problem, as long as you have a GREAT idea... because...

Studios are Making More and More Movies
from Unpublished Books (and even from
Social Media)!

It’s common for Hollywood outsiders to think only best selling authors get offers to turn their books into movies. But nothing is further from the truth. For example...

When The Horse Whisperer was published in 1995, every paper and magazine reviewed the book. Not because it was a great book. The book was an immediate hit because Robert Redford had bought it for the screen before author Nicholas Evans had finished writing it.

Books have always been made into movies. But in the last several years, books have been sold to Hollywood before they’ve been sold to a publisher, and sometimes even made into movies before they’ve hit bookstores.

The fact is, Hollywood is more willing to gamble on a book and invest time, money and resources into making it a movie than the old-school publishing companies.

The screen rights to The Five Hundred, the first novel from Matthew Quirk, have been bought by 20th Century Fox after a fierce bidding war that left Fox paying low-to-mid six figures for the book. And it hasn’t even been published yet!

Hollywood is so hot to adapt movies from books, several first-time screenwriters have been advised to adapt their screenplays into books or comic books first!—and then offer the original screenplays as adaptations based on the books or comic books!

Hollywood is actually re-writing the rules for how book deals get done!

That’s how powerful the phrase, “Adapted From The Book” is in Hollywood right now.

And Hollywood is increasingly going after other writing in addition to books, such as blogs and collections of Tweets.

CBS Studios turned the Twitter feed of Justin Halpern’s $#*! My Dad Says into a sitcom starting William Shatner. Comedy Central invested in a series based on the blog Stuff White People Like.

And that’s why RIGHT NOW is the perfect opportunity for you to shop your work (whether it’s a published novel, a self-published book, a manuscript for a book, even a collection of blog posts or Tweets you’ve made).

That’s right, Hollywood is buying the movie rights to blogs and Tweets!

The bottom line is: Hollywood Needs Content and is increasingly reaching outside of its traditional model to get that content. And authors are high on the list.

And even if you’ve never stepped foot in Hollywood, the deck is already stacked in your favor...

4 Advantages Authors Have In Hollywood
Over Typical Script Writers

You would think a veteran Hollywood script writer would have an incredible advantage over a first-time author when it came to selling a movie idea to Hollywood, wouldn’t you? But just the opposite is true.

If two writers brought the same script to a Hollywood producer, but one script was based on a book, the script with the book will get the deal first because your script and treatment are backed by a book, where a typical screenwriter doesn’t have the valuable asset of a book.

A producer will pay more attention if you have a book because:

  1. When a script is submitted without a book, the producer has to spend tens of thousands of dollars in development fees and costs. But a book with a script provides a goldmine of characters and storylines the producer can mine into the screenplay. The book saves literally hundreds and hundreds of hours and the associated cost savings in character development compared to working with a script not connected to a book.
  2. If your book has been published and has an audience or if you have a following or a popular blog, that gives the studio a reason to develop your script into a movie. Producers know they have a built-in audience. A script without a book doesn’t come with a built-in audience, so it’s a bigger risk for a studio to take.
  3. When you have a book, it’s easier to cross market and cross promote and the popularity of the book helps the movie... and vice versa.
  4. If the studio does sequels or multiple years for TV series, they’re going to need those other stories and characters from your book and they’re going to have to know the depth of the characters only a book could reveal.

The 6-Step Formula that Gets
Your Book SOLD In Hollywood

As an author and writer, you’re familiar with how the world of publishing works. But Hollywood is totally different.

You can’t just send your book to a movie agent or producer. It won’t get read. And don’t think you can just purchase a screenwriting software program and simply copy and paste parts of your book into it and call it a screenplay. It’ll go into the garbage.

To tilt the odds in your favor of having a producer read and reply to your book, there are six simple steps you need to keep in mind when writing your book or treatise...

  1. Make your book or book idea the most “Movie-Genic” it can be. Hollywood thinks visually. When a producer reads your book or treatment, they’re visualizing how the characters will look on screen. So when writing, you need to inject “movie-centric” value into your book. For example, what’s the first thing that comes to a person’s mind when they read the title of your book? HBO bought the film rights to the book The Viagra Diaries. The title instantly puts a visual in your mind, doesn’t it?.
  2. Know what kind of movie or show your book can appropriately be. Not every book is going to be a hundred million dollar blockbuster. You need to visualize how your book can be adapted to the screen. Is it a movie? Is it a TV series? Is it a documentary? Is it a reality show?
  3. Determine the right market and identify the potential buyers in that market. Just like certain publishing houses specialize in certain types of books, producers and television networks do as well. So if you have a reality show in mind, work with a producer who specializes in reality shows.
  4. Make it easy for a buyer to say “Yes.” How do you do that? Simple, create industry-specific materials for your book. Hollywood has very specific ways of creating loglines and treatises. Make sure your materials follow the accepted Hollywood formats.
  5. Avoid Hollywood Agents! Unless you’re already a “name” talent, it’s going to be really hard to find an agent that’s willing to fight for you. Agents work on commission. And they know they’re more likely to get a big fat commission working with a star than a first timer. However, an up and coming and hungry producer who specializes in your market WILL go to bat for you and your work. That’s because producers care about creating movies, not making commissions. And producers have “skin in the game.” So when you hook up with a producer who shares your vision, you can be assured he’ll be as invested in seeing your book become a movie as you are.
  6. Know how to negotiate and make deals “Hollywood style." You need to know what deals look like and who the players are in every deal so that you can make the right deal for you and give yourself the best opportunity for turning your work into a movie or TV show.

Try To Sell Your Book Without Expert Help...
and Hollywood Will Eat You Alive!

Now that you see how much Hollywood needs fresh content...

Now that you’re aware how Hollywood producers are bending over backwards to adapt books to the screen...

And now that you know the six step formula for pitching your book to Hollywood...

...You may think all you have to do is walk into a Hollywood producer’s office and say...

“Hey, I wrote a book and I hear you guys love
making movies adapted from books. Where’s my check?”

Well, it’s not that easy.

But I suspect you already knew that.

For a Hollywood insider or veteran Hollywood producer with connections, the above six steps are as simple as pie.

But to a Hollywood outsider, these six steps are mini-minefields.

One false step, and you risk blowing up your project and dream.

You see, Hollywood works by a special set or rules found nowhere else on earth.

Business in Hollywood, more than anywhere else, gets done by knowing someone. It’s all about connections.

Assuming your uncle isn’t Steven Spielberg or a big-time producer, you essentially need guidance from someone who knows how to work the system.

And that’s what I’m going to help you with today.

During my module, I will reveal:

  • Why trying to find a Hollywood agent should be the last thing on your mind (and what you should do first instead)
  • The greatest new opportunities in Hollywood that you absolutely must know about (and how to take advantage of them)
  • The hidden rewards of working as an insider in Hollywood (and why they should matter to you as an author)

Module #2:  "The Vital First Step: How To Determine If Your Book Is A Movie, TV Series Or Direct To Video?" with Maher Jafari

Maher Jafari has served as Director of Development for high-profile production companies at three major studios and has been instrumental on over 400 episodes of television shows/projects, including hit primetime comedies, documentaries, and live events. He is most currently producing a reality series based on his acquisition of the self-published novel Granny Needs A Four-Wheel-Drive.

In this module, Maher will show you the quickest, surest way for making your book to screen process easy and pleasant as opposed to painful and timely by making sure you nail down the critical first step in packaging your book for Hollywood. That is, how to determine whether your book is best suited to be turned into a movie, TV series or direct to video. This is the essential first step, and unfortunately many authors totally botch it up and waste a year or more pitching their idea to the wrong markets and ruining their reputation in Hollywood. Maher will help you make sure that doesn’t happen to you by showing you:

  • An overview of the various markets available for book adaptations, including Feature Films, TV Movies, Scripted Series, Reality TV and Web Series.
  • The Cardinal Sin you NEVER want to make when pitching your book to a Producer or movie studio. Do this just once and Hollywood Producers will never take your calls again.
  • How to create the “Path Of Least Resistance” when selling your book to the outlet it’s best suited for.
  • An in-depth look at book adaptations that worked for feature films, including Memoirs of a Geisha and Erin Brockovich.
  • How to set up your book so you can sell it as a TV series.
  • And much more information and insight on how to best pitch your book to the medium it’s most likely to be sold to.
  • PLUS… You’ll also get Maher’s Worksheet Grid that will help you figure out the top 3 Hollywood markets for your book or story.

Module #3: "What Are Hollywood Buyers Buying Today?" with Jesse Israel

Jesse Israel is a feature film producer at Ineffable Pictures in Los Angeles.  His upcoming projects include Aaron & Sara, starring Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson and directed by Neil Patrick Harris, The Late Bloomerstarring Elijah Wood, and The Tiger’s Curse, based on the self-published novel of the same name. Jesse also spent many years as an executive and Vice President at Alcon Entertainment, where he shepherded such movies as The Blind Side, The Book of Eli, Lottery Ticket, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

In Module 2, Maher gives you the critical first step, how to determine the best market for your book, in this module, Jesse shows you the specific companies in your market most likely to buy your book. Jesse will start with an easy to understand crash course on how the industry works and then show you how to find out who the buyers are for the markets your book is best suited for. Not only will you know who the end buyers of your book are, Jesse will tell you what they most care about and what they most want to see from an author so you’ll be able to tailor your pitch to their needs and skew the odds in your favor of selling your story.

During this module, Jesse will reveal…

  • The differences between big studios (with special focus on 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony, Universal and The Walt Disney Company) and small feature studios in what they look for from book adaptations.
  • What kind of stories do TV networks want, including CBS, NBS, The CW, ABC and Fox.
  • A breakdown of the major buyers in the cable world, including USA, TNT, TBS, FX, A&E, Lifetime, AMC and others.
  • How to break into the reality show market (ideal for non fiction authors).
  • How to position your works as entertainment or educational so you can give the studios exactly what they’re looking for.
  • And much more critical information on how a complete unknown author with a self-published book can tip the scales in his or her favor when dealing with Hollywood for the first time.

Module #4:  "Hollywood Dealmaking 101 and Beyond: Making Your Book and Yourself Irresistible To Hollywood" with Bristol Baughan

Bristol Baughan is an Emmy-winning and Oscar-Nominated film producer and social entrepreneur. Baughan provides private investors, brands, international organizations and non-profits with the creative expertise and network of artists to translate the most interesting version of their stories to further their missions. During her time as Co-Founder of Reason Pictures/GOOD Magazine, she built a slate of Oscar nominated and Emmy winning feature films and documentaries including By The People: The Election Of Barack Obama (HBO), Which Way Home (HBO), Son of Rambow (Paramount) and Racing Dreams (POV).

In the last two modules, you learned your starting strategy and the end game. Now Bristol fills in the gap and reveals the entire Hollywood sales process and shows you the behind the scenes politics of who these players are and their individual agendas and examines how successful sellers sell to the studios and networks. By the end of this module, you’ll know how to make your adaptation and yourself incredibly appealing to the potential buyers of your book. Bristol’s session will deliver:

  • An overview on how successful dealmakers, producers as well as writers/directors sell their stories
  • Agents and managers roles in making deals (while an agent is all but useless to  you as a first time author pitching your project to Hollywood, agents become critical to your success during the negotiation process).
  • What do deal makers look for when considering a project?
  • How to research and contact the right people at the right agencies who are most likely to take on and fight for your project.
  • How do you determine who has your best interest at stake when shopping a book or story?
  • The Producer’s role in bringing your work to the screen.
  • And Bristol includes her Flowchart that simplifies the process of determining the Hollywood buyers most likely to want to buy the movies rights to your book.

Module #5:  "Making Contact: How To Breakthrough To People Who Normally Don’t Take Calls From People They Don’t Know" with Elizabeth Kushman

Elizabeth Kushman is a 10-year veteran of the entertainment industry who got her start as an office Production Assistant on Wes Craven’s Dracula 2000.  She continued working with Craven as his Creative Executive, developing such films as Pulse, Cursed and The Hills Have Eyes.  From 2008-10, Elizabeth was Vice President of Development & Production at Dimension Films, where she supervised a diverse slate including Halloween 2, Youth In Revolt, The Road and Scream 4 for Bob and Harvey Weinstein.

By this point in the Program you’ll know how to make your book irresistible to Hollywood and you’ll know the companies that are the best buyer for your story. But you’re not a best selling author. How do you get Hollywood buyers to read your book and consider your work? That’s where Elizabeth comes in. In this module, she’ll reveal:

  • The secrets to selling your work to Hollywood and how to create a Package that can’t be ignored, even by stubborn, “seen it all” Hollywood producers.
  • The 5 key questions you must ask before you send your package to an agency or studio.
  • How to bring a level of professionalism and value to your project that is rarely seen by an industry outsider.
  • The 3 most powerful and enticing elements of a professional package.
  • The key component every non best selling author needs to include in the package (but most don’t, totally ruining their chances to turn their book into a movie).
  • Plus… Elizabeth will provide you with sample treatments of films and television shows as well as sample loglines. In addition, she’ll provide you with a worksheet that will help you write your own treatment as if you were a Hollywood writer with 20-years experience.

Module #6:  "How To Close The Deal Like A Hollywood Veteran" with Katy McCaffrey

Katy McCaffrey has spent more than a decade working in many facets of the entertainment industry; from the agency desk to the producer’s chair, from feature film to reality TV.   Most recently, she has been executive producing the new television series, Paging Dr. Freed, which she set up at USA Network and also the series, K9 Rhodes, a project that came through Voyage Media’s emerging talent program. As the Vice President of Watson Pond Productions, she successfully developed and brought to air shows for both network and cable.

Finally, if you followed the lessons from the previous modules, you’ll have your package on the desks of the agencies and studios most likely to buy your work. But what do you do when the phone call comes and they want to talk money? In this session, Katy will show you how to sit at the negotiating table without being intimidated and give you the information and confidence to know you’re making the best deal for yourself, without getting ripped off. Katy will teach you:

  • The differences between making a TV deal, a feature deal and an internet deal.
  • How to ensure a fair deal for yourself - even when you’re the least experienced negotiator at the table.
  • The biggest upper hand you have for negotiating with Hollywood (and how to leverage it for all it is worth to strike the best deal for yourself).
  • How to determine the most important parts of a deal… and what parts of the deal you can ignore and not worry about.
  • Things you can bring to the deal table that greatly improve your odds of selling your book to a studio.
  • How to protect your work so it doesn’t get stolen.

Bonus Audio Module : Extended Question & Answer Panel With Elite Hollywood Insiders

Hollywood Insider Panel Discussion With: Me and all the session leaders above, PLUS:

Joe Rosenberg - former power-agent at CAA

John Leekley - TV showrunner/executive producer/screenwriter

Michael Garcia - Chief Creative Officer of Televisa USA; former Head of Drama at HBO

This will be a unique opportunity for you to learn from a group of Hollywood veterans about any aspect of taking your book to the screen. Outside of this program, it would be practically impossible to get direct access to this many Hollywood executives.

If you’re serious about turning your book into a movie or TV show, then getting access to this one group panel discussion alone is worth joining the program for.

An Incredible Opportunity For You To
Package And Develop Your Book For the
Big or Small Screen...

At the end of the program not only will you know that you need them but you’ll have the tools with which to create them yourself.

Just some of the vital specifics you’ll learn during the program include:

How to write an eye-catching log line – A log line is a short one-sentence quippy summary of your book that a movie producer can understand. It’s totally different from what you would present to a publishing agent. It’s in movie speak; a one to two paragraph synopsis of your book that paints it in the right light or paints the right picture for a movie producer to take interest and go one step further and read your summary

Book Summary in Hollywood Speak — You’ll also discover how to write a  two to three-paragraph breakdown of your entire story. You’ll be able to generate your own analysis as it relates to YOUR story. What works in the story as it relates to the possible movie or television series? What doesn’t work as it relates to the possible movie and television series? What would you cut as it relates to the adaptation, the screen adaptation of your story and what would remain?

Treatment — You’d also then generate a treatment of your book or story. Your treatment is the actual screen version of your story. It’s not a summary. It’s a new story based on your novel. Treatments are often seven to ten pages. It’s not in the screenplay format yet but it basically in shorthand describes the screen version of your story. And you’ll be able to generate your own treatment out of this online program.

Screenplay — Finally, you’ll have the understanding of what makes a good screenplay and will know what needs to go into your screenplay based on your story.

PLUS... You’ll walk away with...

  • Maher Jafari’s How To Determine The Best Market For Your Book Worksheet.  By answering the questions provided in this Worksheet, you’ll be able to easily  determine the best market your material is right for.  This Worksheet is the quickest surest way for making your book to screen process easy and pleasant as opposed to painful and timely.
  • Bristol Baughan’s Best Buyers Flowchart Worksheet which will help you hone in on the best potential buyers for your project.
  • And you’ll get sample treatments of films and television shows… Samples of loglines of popular movies and shows… A treatment template that will help you write your own treatment... And much more.

PLUS… You Get On The Phone With Me Or A Hollywood Insider To Ask Questions and Get Expert Feedback From My Team For 3 Months

Here’s how the program works:

ONCE A MONTH for three months, you’ll get three bonus Q&A phone conferences in which I or one of my esteemed colleagues will personally answer your questions. The GREAT thing about these bonus Q&A calls is, not only will I answer YOUR questions, you’ll hear the questions and concerns of many other authors packaging their books to get ready to shop to Hollywood.

And EVERY CALL IS RECORDED, so if you can’t be on the phone with me and my team or you miss one of the Question and Answer Calls, you can listen to the recordings at your leisure.
